EarlyDays website ~ Promoting development of young children on the autism spectrum

Early Days is an Australian Government funded program that provides information workshops for parents and carers who have a child under six years of age with Autism or suspected Autism.
Early Days Workshops provide information about Autism Spectrum Disorders and about the early intervention services that may be available. Carers will develop skills and learn practical strategies to support their child's development.
Workshops are free, and each family is sent $100 to help subsidise the costs to them for the day.

Able Australia ~ Southern Intensive Respite Support (SIRS)

Able Respite provides "time-out" for both the individual being supported and their carer. Their newest respite facility, Southern Intensive Respite Support (SIRS), is currently located in Bonbeach.
SIRS is a respite facility for people with a disability (there are 3 beds available at the house).
Weekend respite (from 3pm Fri - 10.30am Mon) is available for 12-18 year old people with Autism and/or behaviours of concern attending a school in Southern Region.
Midweek respite (from 3.30pm Mon - 10.30am Fri) is available for ISP / Funded individuals with a disability from any region.

Deaf Children Australia Recreation Program

This Recreation Program provides sporting, cultural, social and recreational activities for deaf and hard of hearing children and young people. Participants are able to meet other deaf people, explore new experiences and challenges and build stronger networks with each other. Activities are held during school holidays, weekends, and week days after school hours. Available throughout Victoria in varying locations.

LEISURE OPTIONS ~ holidays and travel for people with disabilities

Leisure Options is an accredited tour operator who specialise in small group holidays. Their staff are fun and caring and come from a range of backgrounds incl. nursing, recreation, tourism to name a few. Leisure Options offer a range of support ratios based on a person's level of support in the community. These are 1:5, 1:4, 1:2 and 1:1. This ratio pertains to the overall holiday.
There are a wealth of options coming up in 2010 to entice you away on a holiday ~ How about Ocean Grove in Feb or Tasmania in March or Gold Coast in May?? The entire 2010 program is detailed on the flyer attached.

MyTime ~ supporting parents of children with disabilities

MyTime is a peer support program for parents caring for children with high and complex needs. MyTime groups aim to complement the range of services offered by organisations working with families. It is funded by FaHCSIA. It aims to improve outcomes for carers by providing an opportunity to meet, socialise and learn from other people in similar family situations.
